Most emotional moment says Arteta after Arsenal comeback win.
As the home fans went wild at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal substitutes swarmed the field, Nelson Karate kicked the corner flag and Arteta was overwhelmed with euphoria.
With a 2-0 deficit win, it’s no surprise that Arsenal held on to Premier League leaders Manchester City by five points with both sides still having 12 games left.
Arteta, who kicked every ball in a thrilling match, admitted it was the most emotional moment since returning to the club as manager.
“It was probably the loudest and most emotional moment we’ve had together.” The moment was so special. β[When the winner comes in] I lose track of where I am. It was a result that often marked the difference in title contention, and the final sentiment emanating from supporters was that Arsenal would win their first title since 2004.
After conceding in his first ten seconds, the reaction was great after a Marcos Senesi header made him 2-0.
After Thomas Party and substitute Ben White equalized, fellow substitute Nelson fired home with what was almost the final kick of the game. Former Arsenal title winner Paul Merson said it was a strong moment in the title race.
“I think they’re going to win the league,” Merson told Sky Sports, “They just keep going and you never know when they’re going to lose.
“It’s four times in the trot (premier league wins) and you have to remember the role they had before winning those games. Having just lost to Man City, they won Villa 10 minutes later. We lost 1-0 to , and after three games without a win, we rebounded.”
His next three league matches for Arsenal will be against Fulham, Crystal Palace and Leeds United before heading to Liverpool.
