Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his counterpart from Rivers State, Nyesom Wike paid a courtesy call on the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, at the Defense House on Friday.

It’s time for governance, Makinde tells Tinubu .

The development came two months after the former Governor of Lagos State, whom they both supported, was declared the winner of the presidential election. Shortly after their arrival, the duo held a closed door meeting with the President-elect and the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and the Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu; his counterpart from Jigawa State, Abubakar Badaru, and former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.
Speaking to journalists after their talks, the two G-5 governors said they came to honor Tinubu after he won the election.

They also called on Nigerians to look beyond the 2023 elections and defeat Tinubu, who they said could turn the country’s economy around after May 29.
Makinde, who pledged his support for the incoming administration, said, “I have come to honor the President-elect and to tell him that the election is over and the time for administration has come. We will do our best to support it with good governance.

Wike also said, “The election is over and the winner has emerged, so all Nigerians must come together to give him (Tinubu) the necessary support. Everyone is waiting for May 29 to witness the inauguration of the president-elect, and he is running to ensure that Nigerians get what they are waiting for. I believe he (Tinubu) has what it takes to transform Nigeria. I trust him.”
