Following Nigeria’s negative show within the 4-zero defeat towards Portugal in Lisbon on Thursday, former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi has expressed dissatisfaction with Jose Peseiro’s capability to manipulate the country wide team.

Amokachi queried the competence of Portuguese Peseiro to steer the Eagles, noting that Nigeria deserved a higher and more equipped instruct for the national team.

Amokachi said, “When you examine the Portugal sport, that tells you that we don’t even should be there (World Cup),” Amokachi said on Channels TV.

“There are one, two, 3 extraordinary angles that you need to observe it, bringing inside the right instruct, bringing in the right gamers, and getting the right surroundings to play at.

“We continually convey the incorrect coaches to handle a country like Nigeria; we constantly deliver the wrong gamers.”

The defeat also means that the 62-year-old coach has failed to win any of the five friendly matches played by the Eagles under his watch.

On Thursday, Peseiro adopted a 4-4-2 formation, with Calvin Bassey playing from left-back, Bright Osayi-Samuel in the right-back position and Kevin Akpoguma and William Troost-Ekong paired up in central defence.

Former Club Brugge forward Amokachi, 49, won the 1994 African Nations Cup and also represented the country at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups.

He also helped the national U-23 side win the Olympic gold medal at the Atlanta Games in 1996, scoring in the gold medal game against Argentina.
