Senate Presidency: I supported Akpabio because he gave me N200m for election – Wike

The former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has expressed his reasons for recommending Senator Godswill Akapbio to become the President of the Senate of the 10th Legislative Assembly.

Wike said that Akpabio gave 200 million naira for his campaign in 2014 and 2015, stressing that one scam deserves another. Speaking during a special thanksgiving service hosted by his family in St. Peters Deanery, Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor area of the state, on Sunday.

He said that Akpabio criticized critics to support his ambition to be governor in 2015. According to Wike: “When I ran for office in 2014 and 2015, he came out to support me. He gave me N200 million for this election.

That’s why I say one good foot deserves another. I supported him this time and I thank God that he won. ” In response, Akpabio said that the 200 million naira he gave to Wike in 2015 did not come from the Akwa Ibom market, where he was the governor at the time.

The Senate spokesman said the money came from his savings in the communications department, where he was the chairman before he became governor.
